ROYAL ADDERLEY - RIDGWAY POTTERIES
ENGLISH FINE BONE CHINA

'NEWFOUNDLAND TARTAN'

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to our website which provides a resource for those people seeking further information and reference material on the Newfoundland Tartan Fine Bone China pattern, manufactured by Royal Adderley of Ridgway Potteries Ltd. during the 1960's.  Although now discontinued and no longer manufactured, pieces of this pattern surface in estate sales, auctions and collectible markets, allowing collectors the opportunity to add to their own collections. The site will provide a guide to the various pieces that were manufactured for the pattern as well as a background to its origin.

A WORK IN PROGRESS

The site is not designed to be a complete and all encompassing guide to the pattern, since we doubt such records exist, but is meant to be a work in progress.  We are constantly seeking more information about the pattern, its manufacture, backgrounds to purchases, as well as completing the identification of the pieces that were made for the collection.  If anyone has something they could add, whether it be some background on their collection or a picture of pieces not currently catalogued on the site, we encourage you to use the guestbook and e-mail contact information so that your contribution can be added.

LOOKING TO BUY, SELL or TRADE?

Are you interested in selling all or part of your collection, looking to buy particular pieces or seeking to trade pieces? From time to time, we are contacted by collectors seeking particular pieces to add to their collections and I maintain a list of such individuals.  Most collectors are only interested in very good to excellent quality pieces, so those items having chips, scratches and crazing would not normally receive very good to excellent prices.  However, please provide a description of the pieces you wish to buy, sell or trade and the condition of the items. If possible, a photo would be best. Trading is also an excellent means of getting pieces that you need to complete your collection. Please use the contact information and e-mail link if you are an interested buyer, seller or trader.

FREE APPRAISALS

Although the pricing of china, more often than not, is reduced to more of a supply versus demand issue, we have been able to obtain a fairly good estimate of the valuations for this pattern as currently being paid through on-line auctions, antique stores, and collectible fairs.  Perhaps the most often asked question asked of us is - What is this worth?  If you have pieces of this pattern and are wondering about the fair market value of them, please use our e-mail system and we would be happy to provide you with a free appraisal of its value.
